Position Summary
About WOCSO
The Women and Child Support Organization (WOCSO) is a non-governmental organization committed to promoting the rights, protection, and empowerment of women and children through education, livelihood, health, protection, and advocacy programs. WOCSO works to ensure dignity, equity, and safety for the most vulnerable communities.
The Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting effective financial management, compliance, and reporting in line with WOCSO policies, donor requirements, and national laws. The role ensures accuracy in financial transactions, timely reporting, and transparency across all financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and record financial transactions in accordance with WOCSO’s financial policies and donor regulations.
Ensure timely preparation of monthly financial reports and reconciliations.
Process payments, payroll, advances, and liquidations with supporting documentation.
Support budget monitoring and expenditure tracking against donor-funded projects.
Assist in preparation for audits, donor reviews, and compliance checks.
Maintain an updated filing system of financial documents (both physical and electronic).
Monitor cash flow, petty cash, and bank transactions, ensuring adequate liquidity.
Work closely with HR to integrate payroll and staff benefit payments.
Support capacity building of program staff on financial procedures.
Report any suspected fraud, irregularities, or misuse of funds in line with WOCSO’s policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in NGO or donor-funded project finance.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or equivalent).
Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and financial data analysis.
Strong understanding of internal controls, procurement, and compliance.
High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English (and Somali advantage).
